10/12/24                                                                                                                                                                                    Well the election is almost here and where in the same position as always, two candidates to choose from. I find it shameful that as a people were in a position where apparently, we can't do anything? The two parties' control the whole system, most voters are not even aware that there are other parties that have national candidates, (about twelve). The two parties make the laws (state by state, Rep/Dem) that make it hard to even get on the ballot, money being the biggest roadblock, most of the time. Our two parties also control who were able to see in any debate for national office. Maybe if we took all the money away and evened the playing field, we might have a few more choices, but I don't think the powers to be would let that happen. Maybe I'm dreamer, to think people will change, but until then we have Kamala and Donald.

 10/3/24                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 I just finished reading my morning paper (The Leader Herald) about the death of Pete Rose. I think we all know who he was. A great baseball player who set one of the records many of us see as never being broken. The article (from AP writers Ronald Blum and Steve Hawkins) describes how Mr. Rose's LIFETIME ban (which he did agree to) for betting on baseball continues even after his death. This means he still will not be able to enter the Hall of Fame.  The point I'm trying to make is in the same paper there is a column on the football player from the Buffalo Bills (Von Miller) who was suspended for four "whole" games for physically assaulting his Pregnant girlfriend. Two different leagues with two different views, I guess.            PS: Gambling is legal today with even MLB participating.

 9/27/24                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    This time of year I start thinking about baseball, playoffs (too many) World series, and my dilemma of the day the MVP. The runaways are Ohtani NL and Judge AL. Hear are the most recent stats,                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Ohtani;  ba 305/ hr 53/rbis 121/1.031                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Judge: ba 325  hrs  58/rbi 144/  1.169                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  I know Ohtani is the best thing to come along for baseball since Ruth, but he's a DH this year not pitching or playing the field. Judge is out there every day playing the field. What would his stats be without the wear and tear of playing, not sitting on the bench. Maybe there should be another category for the DH (which is very much like batting practice with real pitching), AS you can see, I'm not a DH fan.  Just my take. from an old baseball fan.

 9/22/24                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 I hope everyone is paying attention to the "Beeper Attack" in Lebanon this past week. Why? Because almost all the phones everyone walks around with are imported from China. The same China that we are told could be a future enemy, already supplying weapons to some of our enemies. Is there any entity in our gov't capable of telling us these phones are going to continue to be safe? Reports are that the Israelis started planning this attack 15 yrs ago. I'm not sure Homeland Security (Where have they been lately) or the FBI (we've seen their abilities lately) are capable of much anymore. Do you think Apple will do anything that might hurt their sales of the millions of phones they import from China? I haven't heard anything from our leaders yet.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              PS: By the way who are our leaders today?   

 9/12/24                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               What a sham we witnessed the other night. These shows, they're trying to pass off as debates, look like some off-off Broadway show. I would recommend to anyone who wants to know what a real debate looks like to go to YouTube and find a PBS show called Firing Line. William Buckley was the host who took on many opponents in many real debates (no moderators needed). One of the best opponents being Gore Vidal. Real discussions from all sides of the political and cultural worlds at the time. Not much has changed in the subjects discussed, just the quality and ability of the people involved. 

 9/6/24                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Another school shooting, another shooter known to the FBI (actually interviewed and put on an FBI list last May) but apparently that's it; same story repeats itself. Does anything happen after they're put on this "Infamous list"? How many times do we have to hear this same scenario? Here's someone who threatened to shoot up a school; did anyone follow up? Was the school made aware, and if so, what did they do? Like him or not J. Edgar would not have been so incompetent.

 9/4/24                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Quick note on a new form of tax that is actually being discussed down in D.C.  They are talking about taxing any gains that we might show (stock market, real estate,401 's etc.) on paper, not in reality. They may be gone tomorrow but don't worry I'm sure they also have plans to give it back if it's not there when you actually sell whatever asset they taxed. This is what they think of us. To even try to run this by us as maybe something they can get away with. I hope this is some more disinformation, who knows anymore with these politicians. No matter how much money you may have, this is crazy!
